Dato’ Sasikala Devi Subramaniam has dedicated 35 years to the Royal Malaysia Police. Throughout her tenure, she served in key departments including the Commercial Crime Investigation and Narcotics Crime Investigation Department. Her career culminated as the Deputy Chief Police Officer of Selangor with the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police – a position she held for three years, becoming the first female to occupy this senior role. This progression not only broke barriers but also inspired greater diversity and inclusion in a traditionally male-dominated profession.
Dato’ Sasikala’s educational foundations are both diverse and robust, reflecting a blend of economics, law and business administration. She holds a Bachelor Economics in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Jurisprudence from the prestigious University of Malaya.
Furthering her expertise, she earned a master’s in business administration specializing in Finance from University Putra Malaysia. Additionally, she holds a Certificate in Legal Practice, equipping her with substantial legal acumen essential for navigating the complexities of law enforcement and corporate governance.
Over her distinguished career, Dato’ Sasikala has been a recipient of numerous accolades recognizing her leadership and professional excellence. In 2024, she was honored in the category of Career Leadership – Security & Defense at the 14th Top 50 Professional & Career Women Global Awards, underscoring her significant contributions to security and law enforcement.
Furthermore, she was acknowledged as one of the Top 30 Finalists for Women Security in the ASEAN region, signaling her influence and recognition at the international level within the regional security community.
Through public speaking, advisory functions and participation in professional forums, she has contributed to advancing the best practices in policing and security leadership, influencing both national and regional strategies.
On 21 May 2025, Dato’ Sasikala expanded her professional portfolio by being appointed as an Independent and Non-Executive Director of Mega Fortris Berhad. This role marks her transition from public service to governance in the private sector.
